Industry Training Graduations

Industry training graduations are about recognising achievements and giving families, friends and employers the opportunity to celebrate the success of trainees and apprentices who have achieved their national qualifications in the last year.

Graduations are hosted by the mayor of the district you work in. They are held in collaboration with industry training organisations (ITOs).

So if you get an invitation to attend an Industry Training Graduation, don’t miss the opportunity to attend this unique event.

Trainees who have completed a Level 4 qualification within certain dates (and their employers) will receive an invitation from their local council or district mayor. Trainees will be asked to RSVP with the numbers of family and/or friends that will attend with them. Each ceremony is slightly different but the format usually involves a guest speaker, presentation of certificates by the mayor and photographs. There is often an opportunity to mix and mingle with other trainees, ITO representatives and your guests afterwards.

Check out the Mayors Taskforce for Jobs website for information about industry training graduations in your area. Alternatively, email: careers@connexis.org.nz or ask your Connexis Customer Service Account Manager.

It was good to be recognised. Trainees should definitely go to it.  The ceremony is also beneficial for families to attend as it’s a way for them to get a better idea of what their family member does at work.
I would recommend this to other employers and their trainees. This to me is a big step for a lot of these people, and to have a graduation like this makes a lot of them very proud.
