NEW QUALIFICATIONS COMING FOR THE WATER INDUSTRY:
The previous National Certificates and Diplomas are being replaced by new New Zealand Certificates and Diplomas. These new qualifications are expected to be ready for enrolment in early 2018.
Level 3 - Two New Qualifications!
New Zealand Certificate in Water Treatment (Plant Assistant) with strands in Drinking-water, and Wastewater
New Zealand Certificate in Water Treatment (Small Scale Systems)
Level 4 - Increased distinction between operators of simple plants (e.g. bores/lagoons), and those operating sophisticated plants (e.g. Ardmore/Mount Grand/Mangere/Moa Point)
New Zealand Certificate in Water Treatment with strands in Drinking-water, and Wastewater (for simple plants)
New Zealand Apprenticeship in Water Treatment with strands in Drinking-water Multi-stage Processes, and Wastewater Multi-stage Processes (for plants with multiple processes)
Level 5 - Candidates will need to hold the level 4 qualification, or demonstrate the equivalent skills and knowledge to enrol.

New Zealand Diploma in Drinking-water Assessment
The previous National qualifications are still nationally recognised. Candidates who are currently enrolled in these qualifications have until the 31st December 2018 to complete these qualifications.
